Tsui - Wreckage

Mark Kraus began writing songs as a teenager, recording them on four track and handing out cassette tapes to his friends. He then moved to Boston and formed Jr. Corduroy who relased their first album Slow Fi in 2000. The follow up, I Don't Want To Be Around When You're Gone For Good reached 48 on the CMJ Radio 200, and was noted as one of the best records of 2002 by the Boston Globe. After the break up of Jr. Corduroy, Kraus moved to New York and formed Tsui, a sort of solo project that added band members along the way. The debut from Tsui, Half Man Army was hailed as an underground gem and spread throughout the music blogosphere. In 2010, Tsui released Wreckage, which has, to date, been downloaded over 10,000 times. Mark currently lives in Brooklyn, NY.

"...spare, achingly pretty pop that sways across the album (Jr. Corduroy's I Don't Want To Be Around When you're Gone For Good) is a perfect match for the punch-drunk swell of confusion, longing, nostalgia, and hope that bubbles from Kraus' bittersweet songs." -- David Peisner for Maxim

"...Kraus' hushed vocals hit hard with meaning, and his lyrics take you back on an emotional, pensive journey through your own past. From the innocent feelings of early heartbreak and letdowns in old hometowns, Kraus conveys universal feelings without the slightest bit of cliche."-- Nolan Gawron for The Weekly Dig

"[Kraus'] lyrics evoke a lot of classic songsmith masters: Elliott Smith, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and their requisite masterful control in turning a word into an emotion just by the inflection of their voice-so that you don't just hear it, but feel it as well." -- Poly's Revenge
